Byron Bay
Welcome to Byron Bay
Australia's most easterly point.
Byron Bay is a popular holiday and weekend getaway destination located in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, Australia.
The original name for the town was 'Cavvanbah' and was the meeting place of the aboriginals.
When Captain James Cook was sailing north in 1770 he named Cape Byron, Australia's most easterly point, after Admiral John Byron. The first 200 lots of land at cavvanbah were sold in 1885 and the town became Byron Bay in 1894.
